North Florida Cosmetology Institute COURSES

All programs are divided into three segments, Theoretical Instruction, Practical Instruction, and Clinical instruction.

Theoretical Instruction

Theory segments constitute instruction in which students learn the theory related to hairdressing, cosmetology, skin care, and nails in accordance with state laws and regulations. Students participate in group discussions, take notes, and attend lectures before moving on to the next segment.

Practical Instruction

During practical instruction, students are placed in a simulated beauty salon environment under direct supervision of instructors. Students apply their classroom knowledge to mannequins while being directed by their instructor on techniques to follow.

Clinical Instruction

After the student has completed the first two segments they move onto the third and final segment, the clinical segment. The clinical segment is where students, under the supervision of an instructor, apply their experience on patrons. This segment allows students to gain real world experience, performing salon services on patrons as they would after passing their state board examination.
